Internships:
The UNH Therapeutic Riding Program is looking for interns with strong horse background preferred. Contact Cindy Burke at cindy.burke@unh.edu or 603-862-0131. The UNH Therapeutic Riding Program trains volunteers for it's program 3 times a year.
Barn Management Intern
Animal Care and Facility Responsibilities:
Basic animal care responsibilities of a barn management intern consist of turn out rotation on grass/dirt and record keeping, feeding schedules and changes, water trough management, daily grooming, de-worming schedule, Farrier schedule, Veterinarian appointments, teeth floating, health treatments and recording, basic restraint, exercise records and animal behavior observation and documentation.
Basic facility responsibilities of a barn management intern consist of cleaning and bedding stalls, sweeping/dusting all areas of the stable, laundry, clean feed tubs, pick paddocks and arenas, clean and condition tack, clean and disinfect brushes, pest removal, ring and facility maintenance and preparation pre and post competitions, tractor driving, horse trailer driving & safety, cost containment/budget, assist with continuing education programs, shows and clinics, manage emergency situations such as colic, interact with the public in a professional manner.
Complete orientation/training of the above described responsibilities and expectations will be provided on the day of arrival.
